The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has applauded Dangote Cement Transport for achieving remarkable improvements in road safety, revealing that crashes involving the company’s trucks dropped by 56 per cent between 2025 and 2026.
FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, gave the commendation during a visit by Dangote Cement Plc delegation to the FRSC Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, describing the company as a model for transport safety management in Nigeria and across Africa.
According to the Corps Marshal, the company also recorded a 36 per cent reduction in fatalities and a 52 per cent decline in injuries linked to its articulated vehicles, attributing the feat to Dangote Cement’s strict transport safety policies and operational reforms.
He said the company’s transport safety framework and successful implementation of its Gap Analysis have become worthy examples for logistics operators across the continent.
“When industry leaders get safety right, the benefits extend to the entire nation and Africa at large,” the FRSC boss stated.
Earlier, the Head of Transport at Dangote Cement Plc, Murilo Silva, said the company had intensified investment in advanced transport management systems, including automated inspection technologies and artificial intelligence-driven safety solutions.
Silva noted that Dangote Cement’s long-standing collaboration with the FRSC in shaping transport safety policies was now yielding tangible results, adding that the company continues to prioritise driver recertification and regular retraining.
Also speaking, the Group Chief, HSSE and Sustainability Officer for Dangote Industries Limited, Dr. James Adenuga, said the achievements were driven by strong leadership support and commitment to innovation, safety reforms, and global best practices.
Lead Fleet Safety Officer for Dangote Cement Plc, Ozovehe Abraham, disclosed that the company has deployed modern technologies to monitor driver behaviour in real time, helping to detect risky driving patterns and improve compliance with safety standards.
He added that Dangote Cement is also strengthening its speed limit policy to further reduce road crashes and promote safer haulage operations nationwide.
The Dangote delegation included Divisional Director of Transport, Obajana, Hemant Rana (Col. Rtd.); Head of Pre-Trip Inspection, Charles Theophilus; and Dr. Jibrin Abubakar of the Group Branding and Communications Department.
