The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed an incident involving a train operating along the Warri–Itakpe Train Service corridor, prompting the immediate deployment of emergency response teams.
In a statement signed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation, Kayode Opeifa, the NRC said relevant authorities have been mobilised to the scene to manage the situation and provide assistance to affected passengers.
The Corporation, however, did not immediately disclose the nature or extent of the incident, noting that details are still being gathered.
According to the statement, the NRC is closely monitoring developments and working with relevant agencies to ensure an effective response.
The Corporation assured the public that a comprehensive statement would be issued as soon as verified information becomes available.
It also appealed for calm, urging Nigerians to rely only on official channels for updates and avoid the spread of unverified reports as investigations continue.
