The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepened on Thursday as three more members of the House of Representatives from Oyo State resigned from the party, bringing the total number of defections in three days to five.
The lawmakers are Najimdeen Oyedeji, representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency; Adedeji Olajide of Ibadan North-West/South-West Constituency; and Abass Adigun of Ibadan North-East/South-East Constituency.
Their resignation comes shortly after two other Oyo lawmakers — Anthony Adepoju and Ojo Makanjuola — also dumped the PDP over unresolved internal crises and lingering legal disputes within the party.
The wave of defections has heightened concerns over widening cracks in the opposition party ahead of future political battles.
