The Headquarters, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with Operation DESERT SANITY V, has intensified counter-terrorism operations across the North East, recording significant operational successes including arrests of suspected terrorists and collaborators, disruption of logistics networks, and recovery of arms and ammunition.
According to a statement from the Theatre Command, the sustained intelligence-led and surveillance operations across Borno and Yobe States have continued to degrade terrorist capabilities and restrict their freedom of movement and supply.
At Benisheikh Market, troops in collaboration with Forest Guards arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP logistics supplier, Girema Aliko (40 years), who had been on a security watchlist. He was intercepted while attempting to transport 30 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). Preliminary interrogation revealed that he had been supplying fuel and other logistics to terrorist elements.
In another operation within Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, troops of the 7 Division Provost Group arrested Mohammed Bulama (25 years) at Ngawom, Muna Garage, for suspected involvement in terrorist logistics supply and information sharing. Security sources said investigations confirmed his links with insurgent networks, and he is currently cooperating with investigators.
In a related development, troops apprehended an absconded soldier, Private Umar Bema of 50 Task Force Battalion, who allegedly deserted his unit with a personal weapon. He was arrested within Maiduguri, while preliminary findings linked him to criminal activities, including robbery during his period of absence. His rifle and magazines have since been recovered.
In Biu Local Government Area, troops arrested a suspected member of a criminal syndicate involved in kidnapping and cattle rustling. The suspect reportedly confessed to participating in multiple criminal operations across several locations and disclosed connections between criminal groups and terrorist networks through recovered weapons.
Similarly, in the Gubio axis, troops intercepted another suspected logistics supplier transporting large quantities of food items believed to be destined for Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters, further disrupting supply chains sustaining insurgent operations.
In Adamawa State, troops working with local hunters arrested two suspected ISWAP collaborators who allegedly confessed to involvement in attacks and abductions in parts of Borno and Adamawa States.
The operation also recorded a notable surrender in the Kukawa axis, where a fleeing Boko Haram/ISWAP fighter surrendered with two children following sustained military pressure.
In Damboa axis, offensive operations led to the discovery of deserted terrorist enclaves, with troops recovering rocket-propelled grenade bombs and PKT ammunition, further weakening insurgent combat capacity.
Additionally, 13 detainees were handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution in line with due process.
The Theatre Command stated that the cumulative impact of these operations has significantly disrupted terrorist logistics networks, reduced their operational capabilities, and strengthened ongoing stabilization efforts across the region.
It reaffirmed the commitment of OPHK troops to maintaining operational momentum, sustaining offensive actions, and denying terrorists freedom of action.
The Joint Task Force further assured residents of the North East of its continued determination to restore lasting peace, security, and socio-economic stability across the theatre.
