Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have neutralised 44 suspected terrorists and wounded several others in coordinated military operations across Borno State and the Lake Chad region, dealing another blow to terrorist networks operating in the North-East.

The operations, conducted between October 26 and 28, 2026, involved intelligence-led ground engagements, naval offensives and an air interdiction mission targeting suspected terrorist elements and their activities.

The Theatre Command of the Joint Task Force (North East), in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, said the operations were part of sustained efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities and restrict their freedom of movement.

According to the statement, troops engaged suspected terrorists at separate locations in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State on October 26, following intelligence reports and surveillance observations.

A battle damage assessment indicated that 28 terrorists were neutralised, while six others reportedly sustained injuries during the engagements.

In a separate operation on October 28, the Maritime Component of OPHK, operating from the Naval Base Lake Chad in Baga, launched offensive actions against terrorist targets within the Lake Chad area.

Preliminary assessments indicated that eight suspected terrorists were neutralised, while 10 others reportedly suffered varying degrees of injuries.

The military also recorded another breakthrough when an air interdiction mission disrupted a suspected terrorist team preparing to plant improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The operation reportedly neutralised eight operatives and destroyed their vehicle, motorcycles and IED materials, preventing the group from proceeding with its planned activity.

The latest operations underscore the military’s continued efforts to dismantle terrorist networks through coordinated action by ground troops, naval forces and air assets.

The Theatre Command said OPHK remained committed to weakening terrorist operational capabilities, limiting their freedom of action and protecting communities across the North-East.

It also called on members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing military operations and efforts to restore lasting peace and security in the region.

The statement was signed by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Maiduguri, on October 28, 2026.
