The Gombe State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated Dr. Kabiru Danladi Lawanti on his appointment as Editor-at-Large of Media Trust Group.
The Chairman of the Council, Comrade Faruk Mu’azu Gombe, conveyed the congratulatory message in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
Media Trust Group, publishers of Daily Trust newspaper and owners of Trust TV, Trust Radio and other media titles, recently announced the appointment of Dr. Lawanti alongside Dr. Shuaibu Mohammed and Alhaji Adamu Lawal Toro.
The NUJ described the appointment as a source of pride to Dr. Lawanti, his family, the people of Gombe State and the journalism profession.
According to the Council, Dr. Lawanti has over the years demonstrated professionalism, integrity and commitment to the principles of journalism.
It said his appointment, alongside those of Dr. Shuaibu Mohammed and Alhaji Adamu Lawal Toro, reflects Media Trust Group’s confidence in experienced and tested professionals to strengthen its editorial leadership.
The NUJ Gombe Council urged Dr. Lawanti to use his new position as an opportunity to further contribute to the growth and development of credible journalism in Nigeria.
The Council also congratulated Dr. Shuaibu Mohammed and Alhaji Adamu Lawal Toro on their appointments and wished all the appointees success in their new responsibilities.
It prayed for Allah’s guidance, wisdom and good health for the appointees as they assume their respective positions.
