The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command, has commissioned a newly established and fully equipped Divisional Office in Ajiwa, Batagarawa Local Government Area, as part of renewed efforts to strengthen grassroots security and improve operational response across the state.
The State Commandant, Commandant of Corps A.D. Moriki (Acting), who was represented at the ceremony by the Head of Operations, DCC Yahaya Garba Haruna, said the establishment of new divisional offices remains a key strategy to tackle emerging security challenges and enhance the protection of lives and property in Katsina State.
He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding citizens, while commending Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, for his continued support to security agencies in the state. He also applauded the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, for approving the expansion of divisional structures to strengthen operational capacity.
According to him, the new facility reflects a broader security framework aimed at bringing protection closer to communities, particularly in vulnerable areas.
The Chairman of Batagarawa Local Government Area, Hon. Yahaya Lawal Kawo, represented by his Vice, Hon. Abdurrahman Ahmad, described the event as historic, noting that the new office would significantly enhance security coverage in the area. He reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to supporting security agencies in maintaining peace.
He also urged residents of Ajiwa and Dandagoro to cooperate with security operatives by providing timely and credible intelligence to help curb insecurity in the area.
The commissioning ceremony had in attendance traditional rulers, community leaders, and senior security officers, including the District Head of Ajiwa and the Divisional Officer of Batagarawa.
In a symbolic handover, the facility was officially transferred to the NSCDC by the local government chairman and subsequently handed over to the newly deployed Divisional Officer, Superintendent of Corps Rayyana Haruna, marking the commencement of full administrative and operational activities at the division.
Commandant Moriki charged personnel posted to the new division to remain disciplined, committed, and professional, assuring them of continued institutional support.
In a related development, the State Commandant also received the newly elected Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Katsina State Council, Alhaji Aminu Garba Dandagoro, on a familiarization visit aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Corps and the media.
Represented by the Council Secretary, Alhaji Abbas Aminu Bamalli, the NUJ Chairman expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed the union’s commitment to sustaining a cordial relationship with the NSCDC.
Responding, Commandant Moriki assured of continued cooperation with the NUJ, describing the media as a critical partner in public enlightenment and security awareness.
