NARD Urges FG: Rescue Our Kidnapped Doctor After 7 Months

The National Association of Doctors (NARD), a branch of the Federal Government Medical Center (FMC) in Azare, has requested the federal government to intervene to release one of their member who was kidnapped by kidnappers  about seven months ago.

The doctors’ association stated this in a peaceful protest they organized and carried out at the Federal Government Medical Center (FMC) Azare in Bauchi State regarding the arrest of a member of their association, Dr. Ganiyat Popoola and  working at the federal government eyes clinical centre in Kaduna for about seven months and a few days which is still in their hands.

In his speech, while the doctors visited him in his office, the Chief Director in the administration of the health center, Muhammad Ibrahim Kari assured the members of this group that,  they will make every effort to do something about it, especially by submitting their complaints to the appropriate authorities to find out how to save this lady.

When addressing the members during the protest Dr.  Ejembi Samuel Adakole who’s the branch president of NARD first he praised the members of this organization for their support in participating in this peaceful protest to sympathize with their colleague Dr. Ganiyat Popoola who have been their for about seven months, showing their displeasure on this issue.

The leader of the organization also expressed the need for the federal government to make an effort to save the life of this lady of God, Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, who was taken with her husband by kidnappers  about seven months back, who was later released her husband.  They were given a ransom of about 60 million Naira out of the 100 million Naira they asked for, despite the fact that the remaining 40 million Naira was given to them but they refused to release her up to this time.

“According to the leader, they had that,  Dr Ganiyat is seriously sick, and they can only give her a food to eat only in every three days.

“That is why they are asking the federal government and all the stakeholders in this country to do their best to see that Dr. Ganiyat is released because they will not be able to do anything about it and the doctors in this country have no choice but to withdraw their services  from hospitals in this country because their lives are in danger because in less than a week, another member of this organisation who works at the Federal Government Teaching Hospital in Jos (JUTH) in Plateau State has been kidnapped again on his way to Enugu together with his family.”

The Secretary of the organisation in FMC Azare Dr Umar Faruq, in his speech said that, the members of this organisation their lives are  in danger, because if the government does not intervene and this member is released then their lives are in trouble.  they have no choice but to withdraw from the country’s hospitals until the demand is met.

And Dr. Rahama Ahmadu, a female member of the group at the health center, said that, the women doctors, was directly affected by this incident and that there is a need to take urgent action to save their colleague because her life is in a difficult situation.  need urgent help to save her life.
