Musa Explodes Over ‘Resignation’ Rumour After Tinubu Meeting, Orders Hunt for Fake News Peddlers

Borno State Government

Defence Minister Christopher Musa has come out swinging against reports claiming he had resigned from office, branding the story a “dangerous lie” as he emerged from a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and vowed to drag those behind the rumour to court.

The minister’s appearance alongside President Tinubu effectively put to rest days of speculation fuelled by the viral report, which had sparked widespread reactions across social media.

Speaking after the meeting, Musa dismissed the resignation claim as fake news deliberately concocted to mislead Nigerians and create unnecessary anxiety over the nation’s leadership.

Visibly displeased by the development, the Defence Minister declared that those responsible for originating and spreading the false report would not escape justice, warning that legal action had already been set in motion to identify and prosecute the culprits.

“This is pure falsehood. It is the handiwork of mischief-makers determined to sow confusion,” Musa said, insisting that he remains fully in charge of his duties and committed to supporting President Tinubu’s administration in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.

He cautioned Nigerians against believing or sharing unverified reports, stressing that fake news has become a major threat capable of undermining public confidence and national security.

The minister reaffirmed his loyalty to the Tinubu administration, saying his attention remains firmly on strengthening the country’s defence architecture and supporting ongoing efforts to restore peace across troubled parts of the country.

His strong rebuttal is expected to end speculation surrounding his office while shifting attention to the government’s determination to track down the “originator of the fake news” and ensure those behind the false resignation report are brought to justice.
