Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recorded fresh gains in Yobe State, recovering additional weapons and ammunition during follow-up operations after the recent attack on Kukareta.
Security sources revealed that soldiers carried out an early morning sweep of the area of contact as part of ongoing efforts to track down fleeing insurgents and consolidate on earlier successes.
During the clearance mission, troops reportedly discovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition—items believed to have been abandoned by the attackers in their hurried escape.
The recovered weapons have since been secured, with no further contact reported between troops and the insurgents during the operation.
Military sources say exploitation efforts will continue in and around Kukareta, emphasizing that while the situation remains fluid, it is firmly under control, with troops maintaining high morale and operational readiness.
The latest recovery underscores sustained pressure on insurgent elements as security forces intensify operations to restore stability across Yobe and the wider North-East region.
