A kidnapped woman, Mrs Juliana Goyang, and an 11-year-old boy, Master Idumafa Amupitan, have been rescued from captivity in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The two victims regained their freedom at about 10:10 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, after being held by their abductors following separate abductions around the Gwafan and Lamingo areas of Jos North.
Security sources said the victims were safely recovered and subsequently subjected to debriefing as part of efforts to obtain useful information about their ordeal and the circumstances surrounding their abduction.
Following their release, Goyang and the young boy were reunited with their respective families, according to the sources.
The development has brought relief to the families and residents of the affected communities, amid renewed security efforts to curb kidnapping and other criminal activities in parts of Plateau State.
Security agencies have, however, continued intelligence gathering and covert operations aimed at identifying and apprehending those behind the abductions.
Surveillance has also been stepped up around Gwafan, Lamingo and adjoining areas, with security personnel relying on intelligence-led operations to prevent further attacks and protect residents.
Authorities have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the appropriate security agencies as operations to track the perpetrators continue.
