The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued five kidnapped victims and arrested three suspected members of a criminal gang following a coordinated security operation in Dakingari, Suru Local Government Area of the state.

The operation, described as another breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and other criminal activities, followed credible intelligence that armed men had invaded Dolen Kwandage Village and abducted three residents.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.

According to him, the victims were identified as Samaila Abubakar, Dayyaba Muhammadu and Balki Hakimi, all residents of Dolen Kwandage Village.

He explained that upon receiving the report, police operatives, working in collaboration with local vigilantes, swiftly mobilised to the area and launched a pursuit of the fleeing kidnappers.

The coordinated operation reportedly paid off with the successful rescue of the three newly abducted residents, alongside two other women, Moe Muddaha and Hadiza Bello, both from Yarma Village in Suru LGA, who had earlier been held captive.

SP Usman said the operation also resulted in the arrest of three suspects allegedly linked to the criminal gang.

He added that other members of the gang escaped during the operation, with reports indicating that some may have sustained gunshot injuries.

Items recovered from the suspects and the operation included an unregistered Haojue motorcycle, cash amounting to ₦308,000, one chain and a jerrican.

The police spokesman said the Command had intensified patrols and surveillance across the affected area, while efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.

Commending the operatives and their vigilante collaborators, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Hadejia, praised their prompt response, courage and effective coordination, which led to the rescue of all five victims.

The police commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s determination to rid Kebbi State of criminal elements and strengthen the protection of lives and property.

He also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with timely and credible information that could assist in preventing criminal activities and apprehending fleeing suspects.
