Kebbi Fires Back at Critics, Says No Community Has Been Abandoned to Bandits

Borno State Government

By Abdullahi Tukur

The Kebbi State Government has strongly rejected allegations that communities affected by bandit attacks have been abandoned, insisting that Governor Nasir Idris is quietly but actively coordinating efforts to restore security across the state.

Responding to claims by opposition figures, the government described the accusations as misleading and politically motivated, stressing that the fight against insecurity cannot be measured by public statements alone.

According to the government, security operations involve intelligence gathering, strategic planning and confidential engagements that cannot always be disclosed without compromising ongoing efforts.

It maintained that the absence of public announcements on every security intervention should not be mistaken for government inaction, emphasizing that Governor Idris remains fully committed to protecting lives and property.

The administration said the governor is working closely with security agencies and other critical stakeholders to strengthen the state’s security architecture and tackle the threat of banditry across affected communities.

Beyond security operations, the government noted that its priority is to create a safe environment where residents can pursue their daily activities without fear, farmers can return to their farmlands, and businesses can thrive.

The state also cautioned against politicising insecurity, arguing that reducing complex security challenges to partisan rhetoric undermines collective efforts to achieve lasting peace.

Reaffirming its commitment, the Kebbi State Government assured residents that it would continue supporting security agencies and deploying every constitutional means available to restore peace, stability and sustainable development across the state, while urging citizens to rely on facts rather than sensational claims.
