The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has officially affirmed Governor Nasir Idris as the party’s sole governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections amid a massive show of unity and solidarity by party members across the state.
The affirmation exercise, attended by thousands of APC supporters and stakeholders, was described as peaceful, historic and unprecedented by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee and former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Abdulmalik Muhammad.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, Abdulmalik said the committee’s task became effortless because APC members in Kebbi had already unanimously endorsed Governor Idris for a second term.
He praised party faithful for their discipline, loyalty and commitment, noting that the peaceful conduct and overwhelming turnout reflected the strength and unity of the APC in the state.
In a dramatic moment greeted by thunderous cheers, the electoral committee officially presented the Certificate of Return to Governor Nasir Idris as the APC’s sole governorship flagbearer for 2027.
Earlier, Kebbi APC Chairman, Abubakar Kana Zuru, said the affirmation was a continuation of the endorsement earlier demonstrated across the state’s 225 wards, stressing that the governor had earned widespread support through inclusive leadership and developmental projects.
Responding, Governor Nasir Idris thanked Almighty Allah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC leaders and the people of Kebbi State for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to continue delivering people-oriented governance and sustaining policies aimed at improving the lives of residents, while also supporting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for national development.
