Katsina Police Nab Notorious Gunrunners, Recover 740 Rounds of Live Ammunition

In a major crackdown on armed banditry, the Katsina State Police Command arrested three notorious gunrunners on August 29, 2024. The suspects—Ahmed Mohammed Kabir (25), Mannir Musa (25), and Aliyu Iliya (25)—were caught in Dutsinma LGA attempting to deliver 740 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition to bandits in Yauni forest, Safana LGA.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the ammunition was sourced from Nasarawa State and destined for a notorious bandit kingpin known as Harisu, who remains at large. The suspects have confessed to their roles, and the police are intensifying efforts to apprehend additional suspects involved in the operation.

In another significant operation, Katsina Police arrested a three-man armed robbery syndicate responsible for a daring heist in Baure LGA on August 3, 2024. The suspects—Abubakar Ibrahim (35) from Niger Republic, Abdullahi Nafi’u (35) from Abuja, and Adam Musa (36) from Kano State—robbed Ukashatu Isah at gunpoint, stealing mobile phones and transferring ₦6 million from his bank account.

All three suspects have confessed to the crime and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
