The Katsina State Police Command has arrested six suspects accused of attempting to disrupt peaceful Sallah celebrations in Keku Village, Musawa Local Government Area, following a violent attack on residents.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m., when the suspects allegedly stormed the village armed with sticks and machetes, inflicting varying degrees of injuries on several villagers.
Police operatives attached to the Command’s VCRU unit swiftly responded to distress calls from the area and successfully apprehended the suspects before the situation escalated further.
Those arrested were identified as Dayyabu Salisu, 25; Usama Mansur, 23; Yunusa Nura, 27; Abdulmumini Alka, 23; Buhari Suleiman, 27; and Abubakar Safiyanu, 27.
Security operatives also recovered machetes, sticks and motorcycles believed to have been used during the attack.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspects allegedly conspired to breach public peace and disrupt the relative calm being enjoyed during the Sallah festivities in the area.
The injured victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, CP Ali Umar Fage, condemned the attack and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
He urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and report suspicious activities, while reiterating the police zero-tolerance stance against thuggery, mob violence and acts capable of threatening public peace.
Police said the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
