In a daring operation, Katsina State Police have apprehended three suspected armed robbers, recovering two stolen vehicles and thwarting a planned cross-border smuggling operation.
On May 1st, 2024, at dawn, the Katsina State Police Command, led by vigilant detectives, made a breakthrough arrest, nabbing Sabi’u Musa, a 45-year-old suspect involved in armed robbery and car snatching.
The arrest followed a distress call about the theft of a Lexus saloon car at gunpoint in nearby Kano State.
Acting swiftly, investigators tracked the stolen vehicle to Katsina-Jiba road, where Musa was caught red-handed in possession of the stolen car, which he intended to sell across the border in Maradi, Niger Republic.
In a parallel operation, on April 27, 2024, Katsina’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit received intelligence regarding the theft of a white Vibe saloon car with registration DKA 71 PX from Kano State.
Acting on the lead, detectives traced the vehicle to Liyafa roundabout in Katsina, apprehending Abdulaziz Ibrahim, 29, and Haruna Sani, 47, both from Kano, with the stolen car.
Ibrahim confessed to obtaining the vehicle deceptively and was en route to selling it in Katsina when intercepted.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, commended the officers’ swift action and reiterated the command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of citizens.
The investigation into these cases is ongoing, signaling a resolute stance against criminal syndicates operating in the region.
