The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 27-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Tayani Ramson, on charges of criminal trespass, tampering with electric fittings, burglary, assault, and theft at Sarki Muhmamad Kabir Housing Estate.
Ramson, a graduate of Zoology from the University of Maiduguri, serving with Aldusar Parks and Zoo, was apprehended by the NSCDC’s Tactical Operatives on September 9, 2024. He was caught tampering with electric fittings and attempting to steal various domestic items from a house on Shehu Musa Yar’adua Street.
Upon sighting the operatives, Ramson attacked one officer with a sharp knife, injuring both the officer and a vigilant group member before being overpowered and arrested. Investigations revealed that Ramson had previously burglarized other houses in the estate, with some stolen items already sold. Among the recovered items were a plasma TV, ceiling fans, and household goods.
NSCDC Katsina Commandant Jamilu Abdu Indabawa praised the operatives’ swift action and reiterated the command’s commitment to eradicating crime in the state. Ramson is set to be charged in court following the completion of the investigation.
The NSCDC continues to urge residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies to combat crime across Katsina State.
