Tragedy in Yobe as Windstorm Kills Three, Destroys 40 Houses

A devastating windstorm accompanied by a heavy downpour has claimed the lives of three people and left several others injured in Ngalda community, Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The disaster, which struck the community during a rainstorm, also destroyed about 40 houses, leaving many families homeless and causing widespread damage to property.

Residents said the powerful wind ripped off rooftops, brought down walls, and destroyed structures across several parts of the community, forcing many people to flee for safety.

Sources confirmed that three persons lost their lives in the incident, while many others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to nearby health facilities for treatment.

The destruction has thrown the community into mourning, with affected families counting their losses as emergency response efforts continue.

Eyewitnesses described the storm as one of the most severe experienced in recent years, saying it lasted for several minutes and left a trail of devastation in its wake.

Community leaders have appealed to the Yobe State Government, humanitarian agencies, and well-meaning Nigerians to provide urgent assistance to victims who lost their homes and belongings.

Authorities are expected to conduct an assessment of the affected areas to determine the full extent of the damage and coordinate relief interventions.

The latest incident highlights the growing impact of extreme weather conditions across parts of northern Nigeria, where communities continue to face recurring challenges from windstorms, flooding, and other natural disasters.
