Katsina Community Watch Corps Foils Major Ammunition Smuggling Operation

In a bold move, the Katsina State Community Watch Corps intercepted a commercial vehicle on September 10, 2024, uncovering 610 rounds of ammunition, including AK-47 and General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) bullets. The dramatic bust took place in Batsari town around 7:30 PM, when corps members, acting on intelligence, conducted a routine check on the vehicle, which was carrying 17 passengers.

Suspicion arose when one man, dressed in white voile, displayed nervous behavior and insisted on sitting at the rear. Upon inspection, ammunition hidden under the seats was discovered. The suspect, however, managed to evade arrest, leaving behind the dangerous cache.

The Katsina State Government, led by Governor Mallam Dikko Radda, praised the swift action of the corps, reaffirming its dedication to securing the state. “We will leave no stone unturned in the fight against criminality,” said Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.
