Troops of Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI, have arrested two suspected arms couriers in Damaturu, Yobe State, over their alleged involvement in supplying ammunition to terrorists operating in the North-East.
The arrests, according to security sources, were carried out around 12:05 p.m. on May 11, 2026, following actionable intelligence generated through communication intercepts linked to the earlier arrest of a repentant ISWAP member.
The suspects were apprehended in Damaturu town, the headquarters of Damaturu Local Government Area, during a targeted intelligence-led operation aimed at dismantling insurgents’ logistics networks.
Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that one of the suspects had been tasked with collecting ammunition from the second suspect for onward delivery to a terrorist commander believed to be operating within the region.
Military sources disclosed that the suspects are currently in custody undergoing interrogation, while security operatives intensify efforts to track down the alleged terrorist commander and recover the ammunition meant for delivery.
The latest breakthrough is seen as a major step in ongoing counterterrorism operations designed to cripple the supply chains and clandestine support structures sustaining Boko Haram and ISWAP activities in the North-East.
Security authorities say intelligence-driven operations and surveillance have continued to yield results as troops tighten the noose around insurgent collaborators, logistics suppliers, and arms traffickers fueling insecurity in the region.
