Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has directed commissioners of police across the country to intensify community engagement efforts in a renewed push to strengthen public trust and improve police-community relations.

The directive was issued during an emergency conference held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where the police boss met with commissioners of police and members of the media.

Disu reportedly urged police commissioners to adopt people-centered policing strategies capable of restoring confidence in law enforcement and enhancing intelligence gathering at the grassroots level.

The police chief also emphasized professionalism, accountability, and responsiveness, noting that effective community engagement remains critical to tackling insecurity and criminal activities across the country.

The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to reform its operations and improve public perception through transparency and citizen participation in security matters.
