Governor Nasir Idris has approved the constitution of a high-powered committee to oversee the 2026 Hajj operations, appointing Ahmad Jafar Jega as Amirul Hajj and chairman of the delegation.
The approval, conveyed through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, tasks the committee with coordinating all pilgrimage activities and ensuring the welfare of Kebbi pilgrims.
The delegation, comprising top government officials, traditional leaders, and stakeholders, is expected to liaise with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, airline operators, and the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency to guarantee a smooth exercise.
The committee will also supervise the entire Hajj process and advise the government on improving future operations, while Sahabi Boyi Gemu serves as secretary.
The move signals early preparations by the Kebbi State Government to ensure a hitch-free and well-coordinated 2026 pilgrimage.
