The Bauchi State Police Command has transferred the investigation into the gruesome killing of former All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader in Bauchi South, Jemimah Dutse, to its Homicide Section.
Dutse was found dead inside her residence at Muazu New Layout, Yelwa, Bauchi, with her throat reportedly slit by unidentified assailants.
The incident, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nafi’u Habibu, was reported to the police on October 3, 2026, at about 2:07pm by a 49-year-old resident of the area.
The police spokesman said the victim’s lifeless body was discovered lying in a pool of blood inside her residence, prompting an immediate response from detectives attached to the ‘E’ Division.
Police personnel who arrived at the scene secured and documented the area before evacuating the body to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for medical examination and autopsy.
Following the development, the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed that the case be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
The CP ordered a discreet and comprehensive investigation aimed at establishing the circumstances surrounding Dutse’s death, identifying those responsible and bringing them to justice.
The command said detectives were already working to unravel the circumstances behind the killing and appealed to members of the public who may have useful information to assist investigators.
The Bauchi Police Command also expressed condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and political associates, assuring them that the investigation would be pursued with determination.
The command said it would leave no stone unturned in its efforts to ensure that the perpetrators are identified and made to face the law.
Police authorities said further information would be made available as the investigation progresses.
