The Yobe State Head of Service has constituted an ad-hoc committee to investigate a retirement claim submitted by Musa A. Baba and determine his correct retirement date and entitlements under the state civil service regulations.
The committee is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding Baba’s exit from the state civil service and assess whether he is entitled to any outstanding retirement benefits or pension adjustments.
In a press statement signed by Alhassan Sule Mamudo, Head of Information Office of the Head of Service, the committee is chaired by Shayibu Ibrahim Amshi and tasked with examining the complainant’s request in line with relevant official records and applicable civil service rules.
The panel will determine Baba’s appropriate retirement date based on his age or length of service, as applicable, before calculating his retirement benefits and any pension adjustments that may be due.
Speaking on the assignment, Amshi assured the Head of Service that the committee would carry out its responsibilities with diligence, fairness, transparency and professionalism.
He said the investigation would be guided by official documentation, established civil service regulations and the principles of justice and equity to ensure that the final findings are accurate and impartial.
According to him, the committee would invite Baba for further engagement after completing the necessary calculations and reviewing the relevant records and supporting documents.
The panel will subsequently submit a comprehensive report detailing its findings and recommendations to the Head of Service for consideration.
Amshi urged members to work collectively and demonstrate commitment to the assignment, stressing that all conclusions must be based on verifiable facts and reliable documentation.
He also expressed the committee’s determination to complete the exercise within a reasonable timeframe, subject to the availability of the required records and information.
The committee comprises the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development; Director of Establishment, Office of the Head of Service; and Alhaji Mele Goneri, a former Director of Pension.
The Director of Administration in the Office of the Head of Service will serve as secretary of the committee.
