Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has paid heartfelt condolence visits to the families of Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, and former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Khalid Aliyu, describing their deaths as a monumental loss to Kebbi State and the nation.
The governor first visited the residence of the late former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Khalid Aliyu, in Gawon Nama, Sokoto, where he sympathized with the bereaved family and prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and give his loved ones the strength to bear the painful loss.
Late Ibrahim Khalid Aliyu, who served as Deputy Governor of Kebbi State during the administration of former Governor Saidu Usman Dakingari, died at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife and ten children.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Alhaji Sani Mai Kaset expressed deep appreciation to Governor Idris and members of his entourage for the visit, describing the gesture as a great source of comfort during their moment of grief.
Governor Idris later proceeded to the residence of the late former Minister of Finance and Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, where he extended his condolences to the family of the revered elder statesman.
The governor described the late finance minister as a humble, devout and patriotic leader whose remarkable contributions to national development would remain etched in Nigeria’s history. He noted that Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji’s legacy transcended Northern Nigeria, leaving an enduring impact across the country and the African continent.
Receiving the governor on behalf of the family, the Dan Majen Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Dasuki, thanked Governor Idris for the condolence visit and the prayers offered for the deceased.
He described the late Sardaunan Sokoto as a national icon whose passing represents a profound loss to Nigeria and the international community, citing his distinguished record of public service and unwavering commitment to national development.
The condolence visits underscored Governor Idris’ recognition of the immense contributions made by the two late statesmen, whose legacies continue to inspire generations of public servants and leaders across the country.
