Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, commissioned Phase I of the New Katsina Motel, describing the project as a strategic investment that will reposition the state as a preferred destination for tourism, commerce, and investment.
The commissioning ceremony, held at the newly completed facility, marks a significant milestone in the administration’s drive to unlock the economic potential of Katsina State through strategic public-private partnerships.
Governor Radda described the project as a landmark achievement that reflects growing investor confidence in the state and demonstrates the viability of collaboration between government and the private sector.
“When the proposal for this project was presented to me, I did not hesitate to approve it. I was convinced then, as I am now, that the investors saw something special in Katsina—our potential, our people, and our promise,” the Governor stated.
He explained that the New Katsina Motel goes beyond a conventional hospitality facility, describing it as a modern, technology-driven destination designed to meet global standards.
Governor Radda disclosed that Phase I comprises 42 fully serviced chalets, each fitted with private parking spaces to ensure privacy and comfort for guests, alongside a range of premium accommodation categories.
He further noted that the facility includes Executive Suites, Studio Chalets, Standard and Super Classic rooms, all equipped with modern amenities such as high-speed internet, smart room systems, and 24-hour room service, aimed at delivering a seamless luxury guest experience.
The Governor also highlighted that the Villa Section introduces a next-generation hospitality experience, integrating advanced technology such as AI-powered guest services, intelligent room controls, Bluetooth-enabled access systems, and personalised in-room features, positioning the facility above traditional five-star standards.
He added that the project also includes fully equipped meeting rooms with modern conferencing facilities suitable for corporate events, business engagements, and social functions.
“This project is not just about hospitality; it is about creating an ecosystem that supports business activities, attracts visitors, and stimulates economic growth across multiple sectors,” he said.
Governor Radda disclosed that the project is expected to generate approximately ₦2.6 billion in revenue in the coming months, significantly boosting the state’s internally generated revenue.
“Beyond the numbers, this project represents hope—for our youth who will gain employment, for businesses that will thrive, and for communities that will benefit from the multiplier effects of this investment,” he added.
He described the commissioning of Phase I as only the beginning of a broader vision for economic transformation in the state.
“This is only the beginning. Phase I lays the foundation for a greater future where Katsina becomes a hub for investment, tourism, and enterprise,” the Governor said.
Governor Radda expressed appreciation to Omo Resorts Limited for its confidence in Katsina State, noting that the investment reflects strong trust in government policies and leadership.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing a conducive business environment through infrastructure development, policy reforms, and sustained security.
“We will continue to build a state where investors thrive, businesses grow, and our people benefit from inclusive and sustainable development,” he assured.
The General Manager of the Katsina State Hotels Board, Rabi’u Aliyu Kusada, described the project as a major milestone, noting that the redevelopment of the motel through a Public-Private Partnership with Omo Resorts Limited will significantly boost tourism and economic activities in the state.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman Jirdede, commended the Governor’s foresight in transforming an underutilised public asset into a modern, revenue-generating facility. He said the project aligns with the administration’s vision of converting dormant assets into productive investments that create jobs and stimulate economic growth.
The Chief Executive Officer of Omo Resorts Limited, Mr. Oladipo Bali, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to execute the project, describing it as one of his most fulfilling achievements.
He revealed that the project was largely executed by indigenes of Katsina State, with construction, furnishing, and most supplies sourced locally, demonstrating the capacity and expertise within the state.
According to him, “This is a project built in Katsina, by Katsina people, for Katsina State,” noting that only a few specialised installations such as advanced security and smart systems were outsourced.
He also highlighted additional features of the facility, including a mosque within the premises, eco-friendly systems, and sustainability-driven initiatives designed to enhance guest experience while promoting responsible development.
He further disclosed that work on Phase Two is already underway, which includes a 2,000-seater event hall currently under construction. He added that another building block is ongoing, while a landscaped garden forms part of the final phase of this stage of development.
“We anticipate returning within the next four months for the commissioning of Phase Two, and by the end of the year or early January, we expect the final phase to be completed,” he said.
Mr. Bali also made an appeal to the Governor regarding electricity supply, noting that power remains a major challenge across Nigeria.
“For instance, we have spent about ₦400,000 on power supply just today at this facility alone. This is a significant operational burden for any business, and any support would be highly appreciated,” he said.
The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Faruk Lawal; Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura; Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; members of the Katsina State Executive Council; Katsina Local Government Chairman, Hon. Isah Miqdad; and other top government officials.
