Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed a suspected Boko Haram insurgent and recovered weapons during a swift counterattack in Yobe State.
The encounter occurred in Lotori-Garbiya village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area, after gunmen believed to be members of Boko Haram stormed the community and allegedly imposed illegal levies on residents.
Security sources said troops responded promptly to a distress call on April 20, engaging the attackers in a fierce gun battle that left one insurgent dead, while others fled into nearby bushes.
Items recovered at the scene included an AK-47 rifle and two motorcycles suspected to have been used by the fleeing militants.
Authorities confirmed that the area is now under tight surveillance, with intensified patrols ongoing as security forces track down the escaping suspects and work to prevent further attacks.
