Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON, FNIPR (Kauran Daular Usmaniyya), on behalf of his family, the Government and the good people of Bauchi State, warmly congratulates the newly elected Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, Comrade Rauf Ojo Oyewole, and the newly elected Secretary, Comrade Nasiru Sha’aibu, on their emergence at the Chapel’s election held today, Wednesday, 7th October, 2026.
In a statement signed by the Special Advisor on Media and publicity to Governor Bala Muhammad, Comrade Mukhatr Gidado says
the Governor also extends his heartfelt congratulations to all other newly elected members of the Correspondents Chapel Executive Committee and wishes them a peaceful, successful and productive tenure in office.
Governor Bala Mohammed described the election as a demonstration of the Chapel’s commitment to democratic principles, professionalism, ethical journalism and unity within the media community.
He commended members of the Chapel and the electoral committee for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the election, stressing the important role of journalists in promoting good governance, accountability, development and peaceful coexistence.
The Governor assured the new leadership of the Bauchi State Government’s continued support and respect for journalists, while expressing his administration’s readiness to strengthen its partnership with the media community in the interest of the development of the state.
He urged the new executives to uphold the confidence reposed in them by their colleagues by promoting unity, professional excellence, ethical journalism and the welfare of journalists.
Governor Bala Mohammed wished the new leadership a fruitful and successful tenure and expressed confidence in a stronger and mutually beneficial relationship between the Bauchi State Government and the Correspondents Chapel.
