A delegation from the Zamfara State Ministry of Health, led by the Commissioner for Health, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐍𝐚𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐧, has visited the Gombe State Ministry of Health to study the state’s healthcare reforms and institutional innovations.
Receiving the delegation at the Ministry’s headquarters in Gombe, the Commissioner for Health, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐢 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐮 𝐁𝐨𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐞, welcomed the team and commended the Zamfara State Government for its commitment to improving healthcare delivery and health outcomes.
Prof. Bojude attributed Gombe’s progress in the health sector to the purposeful leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, and his administration’s sustained prioritisation of healthcare as a key component of its development agenda.
He particularly highlighted the Governor’s commitment to providing counterpart funding for health programmes and interventions, noting that this has contributed significantly to the implementation and sustainability of critical healthcare initiatives across the state.
The Commissioner assured the delegation of the Ministry’s full cooperation, promising to provide the technical guidance, information and support required to make the study tour successful.
Earlier, Dr. Maradun expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to the delegation, explaining that the team was in Gombe to learn from the state’s experience and replicate relevant best practices in Zamfara.
She said the delegation comprised officials of the Zamfara State Primary Health Care Development Agency and was particularly interested in the strategies behind the achievements of the Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency, as well as the state’s biometric system for strengthening accountability, workforce management and service delivery.
She appealed to the Gombe Ministry of Health and its agencies to provide the necessary technical support throughout the visit.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Gombe State Ministry of Health, Engr. Yambiu Idris Buba welcomed the delegation and expressed optimism that the study tour would be productive and mutually beneficial to both states.
The visit also brought together the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Abdurahaman Shuaibu, directors and other senior officials of the Ministry and the Agency.
As part of the study tour, the Zamfara team is scheduled to visit the Treasury House to examine the operation of the biometric system, as well as the Gombe State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (Go-Health) and the Gombe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency (GODMA).
The study tour is expected to provide the Zamfara delegation with practical insights into Gombe’s health-sector reforms and institutional mechanisms for improving efficiency, accountability, workforce management and access to quality healthcare services.
