The White Paper Implementation Sub-Committee on Grazing Reserves, chaired by Ardo Chindo Abubakar, has visited Nafada and Funakaye Local Government Areas of Gombe State to sensitise farmers and herders on government policies, regulations and guidelines governing grazing reserves and cattle routes.
Speaking during the exercise at the Nafada Emir’s Palace, the committee chairman, alongside its Secretary, Musa Suleiman Kumo, and Barrister Ibrahim Hussaini, urged farmers and herders to abide by the law and respect one another in order to sustain peace and peaceful coexistence.
Ardo Chindo cautioned against allowing cattle belonging to foreigners or individuals from outside the state to cause destruction or undermine peace in local communities.
He disclosed that the state government had introduced a new enforcement measure requiring Ardos to collect and document data on cattle herders across Gombe State.
The committee chairman commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for creating what he described as an enabling environment for peaceful coexistence and development.
The Deputy Chairman of Nafada Local Government Area, Alhaji Gambo Yahaya, also commended the committee’s efforts, while traditional rulers in the area pledged their support and cooperation.
The Emir of Nafada, Alhaji Muhammadu Dadum Hamza, reaffirmed the commitment of traditional institutions to maintaining peace and unity among farmers and herders.
The committee later proceeded to Funakaye Local Government Area to continue the sensitisation exercise.
In his address, the Emir of Funakaye, Alhaji Yakubu Muhammadu Kwairanga, expressed appreciation for the committee’s visit and called on farmers and herders in the area to continue to support and cooperate with the government for sustainable development.
The Emir also urged the people of Funakaye to support the development efforts of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration by voting for all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
