GOMBE — The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Gombe State, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has been honoured with the prestigious traditional title of Walin Bojude, in recognition of his humanitarian contributions and commitment to community development.
The title was conferred on Friday by the District Head of Bojude in Kwami Local Government Area, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim, during a colourful ceremony attended by traditional rulers, political leaders, religious figures, youth and women groups, and other dignitaries from across and beyond Gombe State.
The revered title of Walin Bojude is one of the highest honours within the Bojude traditional institution, reserved for individuals distinguished by integrity, wisdom, and exceptional service to humanity. The office also carries the responsibility of serving as a senior adviser to the District Head on matters relating to peace, unity, community welfare, and development.
Explaining the choice of the APC flag bearer, the District Head said Dr. Gwamna’s long-standing investments in education, scholarship programmes, youth mentorship, job creation, and empowerment initiatives made him deserving of the honour.
He described the politician as a worthy son of Bojude whose humanitarian efforts have transformed lives and inspired hope across communities.
“The people of Bojude are proud of Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna. His unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others has earned him this prestigious recognition,” the monarch said, stressing that the honour was based solely on merit.
Responding, Dr. Gwamna thanked the traditional institution and the people of Bojude for the recognition, describing the title as both a privilege and a greater responsibility.
He pledged to remain committed to selfless service and to continue championing initiatives that uplift communities and improve the welfare of the people.
“This honour humbles me and strengthens my determination to serve our people with sincerity, dedication and renewed commitment,” he said.
The investiture ceremony attracted a large turnout of community leaders, political stakeholders, religious clerics and supporters, underscoring the significance of the traditional honour bestowed on the APC governorship candidate.
