Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured that the Federal Government will provide urgent relief to victims of the recent bandit attacks in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Speaking during a condolence visit to Governor Nasir Idris, the Vice President conveyed the sympathy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the tragic incidents, including the death of the Kebbi State House of Assembly Speaker and the killing of 11 soldiers in an ambush.
Shettima disclosed that support would be channeled through the National Emergency Management Agency to bring succour to affected communities.
He also reiterated the President’s directive to security agencies to intensify efforts against terrorism and criminality nationwide.
In response, Governor Idris commended the Federal Government’s intervention, revealing that ₦100 million has been earmarked for the relocation of displaced communities, while ₦60 million has been approved for families of the fallen soldiers.
The Vice President was received at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, by top government officials and security chiefs during the visit.
