Enhancing Professionalism: Borno State Police Command Completes Training for Frontline Officers

The Borno State Police Command recently concluded a comprehensive training program aimed at enhancing the professionalism of its personnel, including Police officers, Civilian Joint Tasks Force members, and hunters. The training, which was fully funded and supported by the Lake Chad Support Framework of the British High Commission, focused on various critical areas such as Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), intelligence handling, information management, and fundamental human rights.

Over the course of the training, which began last year and concluded at the Maiduguri Command Headquarters, participants including gender-based desks officers, prosecutors, inspectors, and CJTF commanders were equipped with essential skills necessary for effective law enforcement and community protection.

Lidiya Jermayah, the Gender Desks Officer at the command, highlighted that the primary objective of the training was to reinforce professionalism and reiterate the core mandate of the Nigerian Police Force within the Borno State Command.

Inspector Usman Ahmadia, a participant in the program, emphasized the timeliness and significance of the knowledge gained, particularly in the realm of investigations.

He expressed his commitment to applying the newfound skills to enhance their operational capabilities and overall performance.

Furthermore, Assistant Superintendent Officer Margima David Ajaba emphasized the importance of continuous training, especially in light of evolving security challenges in the community. He praised the facilitators and the Lake Chad Basin Support Framework for their contributions and advocated for the sustainability of such training initiatives to benefit future generations of police personnel and security operatives.
