Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued two female kidnap victims after suspected bandits stormed a farmland in Ajodomodo Village, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The victims were abducted at about 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, when the armed assailants reportedly invaded the farmland and whisked them away into the surrounding forest.
However, soldiers of the 21 Battalion Quick Reaction Force responded swiftly, launching a hot pursuit of the fleeing kidnappers along their escape route towards the Agbodakodo Forest.
Military sources said the sustained pressure mounted by the troops forced the suspected bandits to abandon the two victims deep inside the forest before escaping.
The rescued victims were identified as 15-year-old Miss Mohammed Rahinat and 30-year-old Mrs Hassanatu Mohammed. Both women were found unharmed and immediately evacuated to the 21 Battalion Medical Reception Station for medical examination and further care.
Troops have since intensified operations across the area in a renewed effort to track down the fleeing suspects and strengthen security around vulnerable farming communities.
The successful rescue underscores the impact of rapid military intervention and prompt intelligence sharing in disrupting kidnapping operations and protecting rural residents from criminal attacks.
