Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued two men abducted by terrorists and recovered two motorcycles during a counter-terrorism operation in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation, conducted as part of ongoing efforts to curb terrorism and banditry in the state, reportedly began when troops encountered an armed group of terrorists while carrying out routine security activities in the area.
According to the military, the troops engaged the assailants with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee into the surrounding terrain.
The troops subsequently launched a search and clearance operation along the terrorists’ escape route. During the exercise, they discovered and rescued two male victims who had earlier been abducted along the Dandume–Damari axis.
Two motorcycles believed to have been used by the fleeing terrorists were also recovered during the operation.
The rescued victims have been placed under appropriate care and assessment as arrangements are made to reunite them with their families.
Security forces have since intensified surveillance and patrols across the area to protect residents, deter further attacks and secure major routes linking communities within the axis.
The latest operation underscores the continued offensive by Operation FANSAN YAMMA against terrorist and bandit networks operating across the North-West, with troops maintaining pressure on criminal elements in an effort to restore peace and stability to affected communities.
