Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Maiduguri Zonal Directorate, have arrested a suspected impostor, Nuhu Dahiru, for allegedly parading himself as an EFCC officer and defrauding members of the public of N3 million.
Dahiru was apprehended at Tashan Bama, along Bama Road, Maiduguri, Borno State, following credible intelligence linking him to impersonation and obtaining money by false pretence.
According to the EFCC, the suspect allegedly posed as an operative of the anti-graft agency and used the false identity to deceive unsuspecting individuals and obtain money from them.
A total of N3 million was recovered from the suspect at the point of his arrest.
The Commission said investigations into the matter are ongoing, adding that Dahiru will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The arrest underscores the EFCC’s continued crackdown on individuals who exploit the name and identity of the Commission to defraud members of the public.
