Drama as Fubara Walks Out of APC Screening, Avoids Journalists

Borno State Government

The re-election ambition of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, appeared to hit fresh turbulence on Sunday after the governor abruptly walked out of the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening exercise in Abuja.

The screening, held at the Plateau Governor’s Lodge, had earlier seen other incumbent governors successfully undergo the party’s vetting process on Saturday, but Fubara was noticeably absent until Sunday afternoon.

Sources at the venue said the Rivers governor arrived at about 3:00 p.m. amid heightened political tension surrounding his political future and growing speculation over his standing within the ruling party.

However, drama unfolded shortly after he entered the screening hall.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that Fubara spent barely 20 minutes inside before suddenly walking out, with observers noting a visible change in his mood and body language as he exited the venue.

The governor reportedly ignored journalists waiting outside and declined to speak on what transpired during the brief session.

Party officials also remained tight-lipped over the development, fueling fresh uncertainty over the outcome of the screening and its implications for Fubara’s re-election bid.

The incident has since triggered intense political speculation within APC circles, with supporters and critics interpreting the governor’s abrupt exit as a sign of possible disagreements behind closed doors.

As of press time, neither Governor Fubara nor the APC had issued an official statement explaining the circumstances surrounding the dramatic walkout.
