Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have intensified their offensive in the North-East, crushing terrorist strongholds in the Timbuktu axis and Bulabulin Forest in a series of coordinated ground and air assaults.
In the latest push under Operation Desert Sanity V, forces from Sector 2, backed by the Nigerian Air Force, stormed multiple enclaves across the Bulabulin Forest corridor, including Mar, Subdu, Yaro Lawanti, and Yaro Shuwari. A fierce encounter at Malam Shiri Village saw troops outmaneuver insurgents in a tactical flanking assault, neutralizing at least 11 fighters while others fled with injuries.
Security forces dismantled key logistics hubs, recovering weapons including AK-47 rifles, anti-aircraft machine guns, motorcycles, and materials used for improvised explosive devices—dealing a major blow to terrorist operations in the area.
Simultaneously, along the Wajiroko–Sabongari route in the Timbuktu axis, troops engaged insurgents in another decisive battle, eliminating several fighters and uncovering a cache of weapons, including rocket-propelled grenade tubes and communication gear.
Air support played a critical role, delivering precise strikes on identified targets and retreating militants, while providing real-time intelligence that ensured mission success.
Military authorities say follow-up operations are ongoing across multiple fronts to hunt down fleeing elements and prevent regrouping, as forces tighten their grip on insurgent territories.
The offensive, according to spokesman Sani Uba, highlights growing momentum in the fight against terrorism and reinforces the military’s determination to secure the North-East.
