Residents of Makabarta Tsohuwar Tasha community in Funtua have showered praises on the Councillor representing Dandutse Ward, Nasiru Ya’u Poly, following his intervention that restored a long-abandoned borehole and ended months of water scarcity in the area.
The councillor earned widespread commendation after donating a brand-new submersible water pump machine, a gesture that enabled the successful repair and revival of the community’s major source of clean water.
Before the intervention, the borehole had remained out of service, forcing residents to endure significant hardship in their daily search for water. Families reportedly travelled long distances to obtain water for domestic use, a challenge that affected both households and small businesses within the community.
Speaking with journalists in Funtua, community representative Malam Muttaqa Saidu described the project as a timely intervention that has brought relief and renewed hope to residents.
He applauded Nasiru Ya’u Poly for demonstrating responsive leadership and a strong commitment to the welfare of the people, noting that the restoration of the borehole has improved access to safe drinking water and strengthened public health and sanitation in the area.
According to him, the councillor has continued to show sensitivity to the immediate needs of his constituents, adding that the provision of clean water remains one of the most critical services any leader can deliver to the people.
“This gesture has brought tremendous relief to our community. Water is life, and restoring this borehole has solved a major challenge facing residents of Makabar Tsohuwar Tasha,” he said.
Malam Muttaqa further offered prayers for the councillor’s continued success in office and urged other elected officials to emulate development-oriented initiatives that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens.
Also speaking, a community member, Malama Rabi, expressed joy over the restoration of the water facility, describing the project as a clear demonstration of people-centered leadership.
She pledged the community’s continued cooperation and support for the councillor, expressing optimism that more developmental projects would be attracted to Dandutse Ward in the future.
Residents said the restored borehole has already eased the burden on women and children, who are often the most affected during periods of water shortage.
The development has further strengthened the relationship between the community and its elected representative, with many residents describing the project as a practical example of grassroots governance delivering tangible results.
For the people of Makabar Tsohuwar Tasha, the return of clean and reliable water supply is more than just the repair of a borehole—it is a restoration of hope, convenience and improved living conditions.
