The Yobe State Police Command, in its continued commitment to combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the State, has recorded another significant success through intelligence-led operations resulting in the arrest of suspects involved in motorcycle theft, cheating, and recovery of stolen property.

According to him, on 17th May, 2026 at about 1600hrs, operatives attached to Garin Alkali Division, Bursari LGA, apprehended one Abubakar Haruna, 30 years old, of Lafiya Lamurde, Adamawa State, who specializes in motorcycle theft in markets and public gathering places.
Dungus said, the suspect allegedly snatched a red Boxer motorcycle with registration number MKD 330 QF Benue State from a victim at the outskirts of Garin Alkali.
Following the incident, sympathizers and members of the public pursued the suspect in an attempt to apprehend him. During the pursuit, the suspect rode recklessly and knocked down one Sabo Yahaya, 72 years old, of Garin Goje Village, Jakusko LGA.
As a result of the collision, the victim sustained a fracture on his left leg and was initially rushed to Specialist Hospital Gashu’a before being referred to FMC Nguru for further medical attention.
He said, the suspect was rescued from an attempted mob action and is currently undergoing investigation.
In another development, at about 1750hrs on the same date, operatives of Garin Alkali Police Division, acting on a distress call, arrested one Musa Baba, 38 years old, of Jumbam Village, Tarmuwa LGA, who had earlier been placed on a police watch list for allegedly defrauding unsuspecting victims through deceptive means.
Investigation revealed that the suspect usually carried bundles of cut papers wrapped in polythene bags and disguised them as money notes to deceive victims at marketplaces.
The suspect had earlier fraudulently obtained the sum of One Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira (N110,000) from a teenager using the same method and was arrested while attempting to perpetrate a similar act.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, while exhibits including bundles of cut papers arranged to resemble currency notes were recovered from his possession. Investigation has commenced with a view to prosecuting the suspect.
Similarly, acting on credible intelligence at about 1235hrs, operatives of Garin Alkali Division apprehended one Usman Isa, 28 years old, of Yusufari LGA, who specializes in cattle rustling. The suspect was arrested in possession of a suspected stolen cow at Garin Alkali Market.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing to identify the rightful owner of the recovered cow and track down other fleeing members of the syndicate.
