Operatives of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (CWC) alongside local vigilante groups have recorded another major breakthrough in the fight against banditry after successfully ambushing armed bandits in Malumfashi Local Government Area.
The daring operation, carried out on the Gora–Yammama axis on Monday night, reportedly led to the recovery of seven motorcycles used by the criminals during the fierce encounter.
Security sources said several bandits were neutralized as the local security operatives launched a surprise offensive against the armed gang, forcing others to flee into nearby forests.
Residents of the area hailed the bravery of the Community Watch Corps and vigilante members, describing the operation as a major boost to ongoing efforts aimed at restoring peace and security across communities in Katsina State.
The latest success has also drawn commendation from locals who praised the sustained offensive strategy against banditry, urging security volunteers and authorities to maintain the momentum in flushing out criminal elements terrorizing rural communities.
The operation underscores the growing role of community-based security initiatives in supporting the fight against insecurity in Nigeria’s North-West region.
