The Borno State House of Assembly has confirmed nine commissioner-designates nominated by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, paving the way for their formal inauguration into the State Executive Council.
The confirmation followed a screening exercise conducted during Thursday’s plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Abdulkarim Lawan.
The nominees cleared by the lawmakers are Hon. Babagana Malarima, Engr. Dr. Bawu Musami, Engr. Adam Bukar Bababe, Arc. Isa Garba Haladu, Engr. Tijjani Goni Alkali, Ibrahim Hassan Hala, Satumari Samaila, Dr. Maina Yaumi, and Engr. Mohammed Habib.
Following their screening, members of the Assembly unanimously endorsed the nominees, expressing confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the development agenda of the Zulum administration.
Congratulating the commissioner-designates after their confirmation, Speaker Lawan urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through dedicated, transparent and people-centred service.
He charged the incoming commissioners to work closely with the state government in advancing sustainable development, strengthening governance and improving service delivery across Borno State.
The confirmation is expected to bolster Governor Zulum’s cabinet and accelerate the implementation of key policies and programmes aimed at enhancing the welfare and living standards of the people of Borno State.
