Troops of the Nigerian Army have recorded another milestone in the fight against insurgency as a suspected member of Boko Haram/ISWAP surrendered in Borno State.
Security sources disclosed that the 27-year-old suspect, identified as Liman Mudo, laid down his arms on April 25 before troops of 3 Battalion (Mechanised) in Gamboru Ngala.
The ex-combatant, said to be from Suwaa village in Bama Local Government Area, was immediately taken into custody, profiled, and documented in line with standard military procedures.
Sources noted that while the security situation across the North-East theatre remains relatively calm, it is still unpredictable, with troops maintaining strong morale and operational readiness.
Military authorities say the surrender reflects the sustained pressure on insurgent groups and reiterated calls for other fighters to lay down their arms, as efforts intensify to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace in the region.
