Bauchi Police Command Braces Up For War Against Forces Destroying Youth Potentials

Borno State Government

By; Mohammed Kawu, Bauchi

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Omolori Aliyu has observed that the campaign by the Nigeria Police Force to reclaim the youth from the clutches of political and digital toll bridge is long overdue.

The commissioner therefore described the campaign initiative themed, “My Future is Greater than Political and Digital Tollbridge” as a call and declaration of war against the forces that seeks to exploit, manipulate and destroy the potentials of young people.

CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu was speaking in Bauchi launching the campaign in commemoration International Youth Day 2026, under the auspices of the National Youth Leadership and Security Initiative.

He explained that the event represents a strategic and deliberate commitment by  the Nigerian police force to engage the youth as the most vital segment of the population in a meaningful dialogue about leadership, security, and the future of our great nation.

Aliyu expressed regret how some sinister elements, both in the physical and digital worlds, preying on the vulnerabilities of our societal young people, and use them as tools for violence, fraud, and societal disruption, saying “We cannot afford to be naive”.

Commissioner Aliyu stated, “As you will note from the program, we are today conducting a brief ceremonial launch of this campaign, followed by a formal handover to the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, COCACOV”.

He further explained that COCACOV is the flagship community policing initiative of the Nigerian Police Force, and it will be the vehicle through which this campaign will be sustained, institutionalized, and taken to the grassroots.

According to him, the handover underscores their commitment to ensure the initiative is not a one-off event, but a continuous, structured, and impactful engagement with the youth across Bauchi state and beyond, stressing that the security of the state and the future of it’s youth is a shared responsibility.

“The police cannot do it alone. We need the support of parents, teachers, religious leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, and most importantly, the youth themselves. To our youth, I say this: you are the architects of your own destiny”

CP Aliyu urged the youth not allow anyone to use them as a cannon fodder for political violence, or allow the allure of quick money from cybercrime to destroy their future which, he argued, is far greater than these fleeting and destructive pursuits.

He told the Royal Fathers and Community Leaders that their role in shaping the values and character of the youth is indispensable, hence the need for their support in this crucial campaign, and asked officers and men of his command to approach their duties with professionalism, empathy, and a commitment to protecting the rights and aspirations of the youth.

CP Aliyu conclusively beltup “We must build trust, not fear. Following this ceremonial launch, we will transit to the Police-Youth Dialogue, where we will engage in frank and constructive discussions on responsible citizenship, police-youth partnership, security and crime prevention, public trust, and the specific challenges of political and digital tollbridge”.
