The race for Yobe State’s top seat has taken a decisive turn as Governor Mai Mala Buni and Minister of Police Affairs Ibrahim Gaidam unveiled Baba Mallam Wali as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election.
The announcement signals a major political alignment within the ruling party, aimed at presenting a united front ahead of the high-stakes contest.
Party insiders say the consensus move is designed to avoid internal wrangling and strengthen the APC’s chances of retaining power in the state.
With key stakeholders rallying behind Wali, the focus is now expected to shift to campaign strategy and consolidation of grassroots support across Yobe.
