Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has raised the alarm over an alleged plot to intimidate voters during the ongoing election, claiming that a police officer identified by the nickname “London” was deployed for the purpose.
Adeleke made the allegation while speaking on the security situation surrounding the exercise, insisting that he had received what he described as “authoritative information” about the alleged deployment.
“I have the authoritative information that a police officer by the nickname ‘London’ was sent to intimidate voters,” Adeleke said.
The governor’s allegation has added a fresh layer of tension to the electoral process, coming amid heightened security around polling units and concerns over possible attempts to disrupt voting.
Adeleke called for vigilance among voters and urged security agencies to ensure that their personnel remain neutral and professional throughout the election.
The allegation, however, remains a claim by the governor, and no independent confirmation of the identity or alleged mission of the officer was provided in the statement.
With voting underway, attention is now focused on the conduct of security personnel and the ability of authorities to guarantee a peaceful and credible electoral process across the state.
