In a bold offensive, troops of the Defence Headquarters Special Operations Brigade neutralized six Lakurawa terrorists during a fierce operation in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The raid, conducted on January 11, 2025, was part of Operation Fansan Yamma’s intensified efforts to root out insurgency in the region.
The troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, recovering a deadly cache of weapons, including four AK-47 rifles, 160 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a box of 12.7mm ammo.
Tragically, five gallant soldiers paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, a stark reminder of the sacrifices made by Nigeria’s Armed Forces to safeguard the nation.
Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, called for public vigilance, urging residents of Gudu and surrounding areas to report suspicious activities promptly to security forces.
“Our soldiers’ bravery and your cooperation remain vital in the fight against terrorism,” Abdullahi emphasized.
The operation underscores the military’s unwavering resolve to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity, even at great cost.
