The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Yobe State, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, has stepped up consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship election, visiting the Emirs of Jajere and Ngelzarma Emirates as part of efforts to secure the support, prayers and guidance of traditional rulers.
Wali, accompanied by a high-powered delegation of APC leaders and supporters, was received by party stakeholders and sympathisers in Tarmuwa and Fune Local Government Areas during the visits.
At the respective royal palaces, the APC standard-bearer said his delegation came primarily to seek the blessings and prayers of the traditional institutions as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.
He pledged to pursue good governance and inclusive leadership if elected, while promising to sustain and build upon the achievements of the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni.
Wali also called on APC supporters across the state to maintain unity and discipline, stressing that a united party would be better positioned to achieve victory at all levels in the 2027 general elections.
He expressed appreciation to the people of Tarmuwa and Fune for the warm reception given to him and his entourage, describing the turnout as a demonstration of goodwill and confidence in the party.
The APC State Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, similarly urged party members to remain loyal and committed to the APC, saying unity and dedication would be crucial to the party’s success.
Speaking separately, the Emir of Jajere, Alhaji Mai Hamza Ibn Buba Mashio, and the Emir of Ngelzarma, Alhaji Mohammed Mai Yeri Ibn Isa II, welcomed the APC delegation and offered prayers for Wali’s success in his political journey.
The visit to Jajere Palace also featured a notable traditional ceremony, with Emir Mai Hamza Ibn Buba conferring on Baba Mallam Wali the prestigious traditional title of Sardaunan Jajere Emirate.
The honour added a significant dimension to the candidate’s ongoing consultations with Yobe’s traditional institutions.
Wali was accompanied on the visits by his running mate, Barrister Saleh Samanja; members of the Yobe State House of Assembly; members of the National Assembly; commissioners and other prominent APC stakeholders and supporters from across the state.
Gadaka explained that the visits formed part of the APC’s continuing engagement with traditional rulers and other key stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.
He added that while the party was currently focused on consultations, the APC would return to the various emirates during the formal campaign period.
The APC chairman expressed gratitude to the two royal fathers for receiving the delegation and for their prayers, support and fatherly counsel.
