FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has thrown his political weight behind the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that no opposition party stands a chance of defeating the ruling party in the Federal Capital Territory during the 2027 presidential election.
Wike, who spoke while highlighting his administration’s achievements in the FCT, said his presence in the nation’s capital was aimed at demonstrating that effective governance is achievable when leaders are prepared to work.
“I came to the FCT to prove a point. There is nothing difficult about governance if you choose to work,” the minister declared.
The former Rivers State governor challenged critics to assess his record in office, insisting that his performance as governor was built around execution, accountability and a strict commitment to quality.
Wike particularly drew attention to his infrastructure record in Rivers State, where he said he completed 12 flyovers within four years.
“All the contractors know my standards,” he said, stressing that his administration demanded results and refused to compromise on the quality of projects.
His comments come as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the FCT expected to remain an important battleground in the presidential contest.
Wike’s declaration is likely to further fuel political debate over the strength of the APC and opposition parties in Abuja as the race towards 2027 gathers momentum.
